Shropshire Hills Short Walks Guidebook - OS Short Walks Made Easy
Covering 310 square miles, the Shropshire Hills span nearly half the county. Designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in 1958, it remains unspoilt. Positioned between the West Midlands and the Welsh borderlands, it feels wonderfully varied.
Much Wenlock, Church Stretton and Ludlow make ideal walking bases. These attractive towns offer history, character and easy hill access. Each provides a welcoming place to begin relaxed countryside adventures.
The Wrekin stands proudly north of the main hills near Telford. Paths climb through the gates of Heaven and Hell to the summit. Rewarding all-round views stretch across Shropshire and beyond.
These hills balance adventure with calm, offering uplifting, welcoming walks. Short routes suit varied abilities while still feeling rewarding. These paths invite you to fall in love with the Shropshire Hills.
